Fashion Radar: Brands to Look Out for in 2024

Written by Remi Fischer

Do you ever get frustrated seeing and buying from the same brands over and over? Throughout the past couple of years, I have curated a list of more than a hundred brands that I'd quite literally sell my soul for. Each brand has its own sense of personal style, as its uniqueness does not go unnoticed. Let’s get into my narrowed down list where I have selected the top seven brands that should be on everyone's radar in 2024.

Paloma Wool

Paloma Wool is not just a fashion brand; it's a project that transcends conventional boundaries to explore creativity, expression, and the intimate relationship between clothing and self-identity. Founded with a desire to break free from the traditional cycle of seasonal collections, Paloma Wool emphasizes the creation of timeless, versatile pieces that encourage personal expression and connection. At the heart of this project lies a commitment to local production, collaboration, and the development of a community that shares in the brand's values of sustainability, creativeness, and expressiveness. With a strong emphasis on materials like jersey and knitwear, Paloma Wool leverages the rich knitting industry of Barcelona to experiment and innovate, further defining its distinctive style.

Heaven Marc Jacobs

Heaven by Marc Jacobs, launched in 2020, is a vibrant, direct-to-consumer collection that captures the essence of 90s grunge and rave culture with a modern twist. It's a nostalgic nod to fashion's past, seamlessly blending teenage dreams with contemporary style. The line, designed with a polysexual approach, features a range of items from baby tees and hoodies with angst-filled phrases to pleated skirts and baby rib cardigans, all priced between $45 and $395. Heaven has quickly gained a rapid following among celebrities like Olivia Rodrigo, Bella Hadid, and Kendall Jenner, marking its place as a unique and influential force in the fashion industry.

Sandy Liang

Sandy Liang has become synonymous with setting trends in the fashion industry. Her designs, known for blending nostalgia with contemporary chic, often lead to a surge of trends that resonate across fashion circles. Liang's unique ability to mix textures, patterns, and styles, while incorporating elements of her personal heritage and New York City's streetwear, has positioned her as a pivotal figure in shaping modern fashion narratives. Through her work, Liang continues to influence both the industry and consumer habits, demonstrating the power of innovative design in creating widespread appeal.

Handover

The "boxer" trend in fashion refers to the integration of boxer-inspired elements into everyday wear, capturing a casual, edgy aesthetic that blurs the lines between sportswear and streetwear, emphasizing comfort and a laid-back vibe. Handover is part of a larger movement towards incorporating athletic and leisurewear into mainstream fashion, reflecting a broader cultural shift towards more relaxed and versatile dressing options. Handover is a unique fashion brand based in Madrid, Spain, that offers a novel concept in clothing and particularly focusing on boxer shorts. They stand out by producing boxers inspired by ex-partners, available both on-demand and in limited stock, emphasizing a slow fashion ethos. Their product range extends beyond boxers to include culottes, shirts, dresses, and more, aiming to appreciate patience over fast fashion consumption.

Dana Foley - NYC

Dana Foley is a brand that I have continued to visit during my time in New York City. Dana Foley's boutique is a treasure trove of unique, playful designs and vintage finds. It's curated for lower east side women seeking distinct pieces. Foley's vision was to create a space where girls could immerse themselves in a world of glamorous aesthetics, offering them a chance to explore and discover one's own style. Dana Foley NYC also extends its unique offering to the online space, allowing customers worldwide access to its eclectic mix of original designs and handpicked vintage items. Through its online store, the brand ensures that the same curated experience is available beyond the physical location, catering to those who seek the distinct Dana Foley aesthetic from afar.

Rowing Blazers

Rowing Blazers, established by Jack Carlson, is an American clothing brand that ingeniously melds elements from tailoring, sportswear, and streetwear. Renowned for its vibrant, inclusive, and slightly subversive take on classic styles, the brand is notable for its limited-edition collaborations. This versatile brand ranges from its cult favorite sheep sweaters and vibrant fleeces, to a funky range of pants, ties and more. The dynamic fusion of traditional and contemporary influences makes Rowing Blazers a standout in the fashion industry, catering to a diverse audience seeking authenticity and originality in their wardrobe.

Fabulous Fanny's NYC

Accessories are just as important and add so much personality! Fabulous Fannys is another New York favorite of mine, which contains an extensive collection of original vintage and classic reproduction eyewear. Founded in the Chelsea Flea Market in 1993, it has become a haven for those seeking unique, high-quality glasses that defy the monotonous trends of mass-produced eyewear. With a commitment to individuality and craftsmanship, Fabulous Fanny's offers a range of eyewear that includes both timeless classics and pieces that capture the essence of counterculture, all inspired by the most famous designs in eyewear history.
