SHOPBOP’S RETURN TO MADISON
In celebration of the Shopbop pop-up shop opening its doors in Madison, WI, the online retailer partnered with The Kollege Klub Bar (KK) to interact with students and get them excited about the store’s return. Shopbop originated in Madison, and is back from October 17th until October 27th. Located on 512 State St., Madison, WI, the store is full of trendy outfits curated to the collegiate tailgate style. The KK event on Friday October 18th, was a creative way to attract students to the store. Incentivizing attendees by offering free drinks! Shopbop representatives were lined up and ready to greet patrons with a fashionable drinking glove and free drink ticket.
Shopbop’s target market includes students, and the brand aimed to test out an expansion to physical stores in college towns. Sean Morrissey, the Head of Brand Marketing at Shopbop, - while not from Madison - had only positives to say about the college town. “The goal of the KK event was to glean feedback about the State Street pop-up to determine if the store will remain”, said Morrissey. They also are looking to launch pop-ups on other college campuses.
Even the Bucky statue featured in the KK joined in on the fun by sporting the iconic pink reusable Shopbop bag. The bag has been spotted all over campus since the pop-up opening. Throughout the night, Shopbop representatives interviewed students to feature on the brand’s Tik Tok and Instagram pages. Shopbop has an engaging social media presence featuring aesthetic videos of the store, funny interviews with students and trendy outfit inspiration. Students were asked about what they like to wear, their favorite game day phrases, and their style dos and don’ts. Some students brought in their Shopbop bags and were interviewed about what they bought. They took pictures in front of the Shopbop photo-op sign and were encouraged to post on their socials about the event. The event was a smart way to engage UW-Madison students and get their feedback on the store's opening, which so far has been a success. Go follow Shopbop on Tik Tok and Instagram to hear more about the pop-up events happening this October @Shopbop.
