Shopbop Pop-Up x The Vault Event Brings Fashion to State Street

Written by Lola Schectman

On October 25th, Madison’s State Street was filled with excitement as Vault members streamed into the Shopbop Pop-Up x The Vault event. From 5 to 7 p.m., students flocked to the pop-up storefront at 512 State Street to experience one of the last days of the unique Shopbop shopping experience, savoring good food, drinks, high-end clothing, and a unique opportunity to connect with Carolina Maguire, Shopbop’s Fashion Director. For a city like Madison, where premium shopping options are limited, the event was a chance for students to shop high-end fashion brands without leaving town.

Shopbop’s story began in Madison in 1999 when it was launched as a boutique retailer specializing in hard-to-find denim styles. The company quickly became a local favorite, known for its unique selection and trendy styles that resonated with college students. By 2006, Shopbop was growing rapidly, and Amazon acquired the store, allowing the brand to expand its influence globally while still keeping their Madison-based headquarters. Today, Shopbop is recognized as a premier online retailer for designer apparel, shoes, and accessories, all whilst maintaining deep ties to the Madison community.

Unique features at the pop-up included UW-Madison inspired clothing and accessories, featuring exclusive Bucky Badger-inspired Studs earrings and Wisconsin Design Team merchandise that combined school pride with style.

One of the most popular features of the pop-up was the personalized Levi’s station, where attendees could customize their own denim with personalized designs, patches, and embellishments, transforming jeans into bold fashion statements. Shopbop also brought in customizable Stoney Clover patches, allowing shoppers to personalize makeup and tote bags, making each piece uniquely their own.

Shopbop didn’t stop at local brands—the pop-up also showcased collections from high-end labels like AGOLDE, Anine Bing, Reformation, and STAUD, offering Madison students access to some of the latest in premium fashion.

Through events like the recent pop-up, Shopbop continues to celebrate its Madison origins, connecting directly with UW-Madison’s student population and showcasing the latest in fashion through partnerships on campus. The Vault, known for supporting student creativity, fashion, and professional projects, has been a consistent collaborator with Shopbop. The pop-up was a memorable experience to those passionate about fashion, showing the influence both Shopbop and The Vault have made on Madison’s fashion scene.
